P-POD for PEDIATRICIANS
Pediatricians can now treat plagiocephaly without the need to refer their patients to an outside clinic.
Pediatricians are often the first health care provider to address a flat spot on the back of an infant’s head. Whether it gets noticed during a regular office visit or the infant's parents express concern, regular check ups are often the start of the conversation. Traditionally pediatricians suggest conservative treatment of repositioning and tummy time for 1-2 months. If that effort is unsuccessful in correcting the flat spot, a cranial remolding helmet may be necessary.
In order to get started with helmet therapy, pediatricians typically refer their patients to an orthotics clinic. This means families have to wait for an appointment for scans and then wait for the helmet to be fabricated in order to start treatment.
What if there was a better, faster way?
With the P-POD, pediatricians can diagnose and fit the cranial helmet in a single office visit.* No scanning, no shipping, no waiting. The complete process happens at the point of care, allowing the baby to begin treatment immediately, speeding healing time.
* Pending insurance requirements
The P-POD Helmet is a traditional cranial orthotic device that applies static or gentle pressure to prominent regions of an infant's head in order to improve cranial symmetry and/or shape in infants from 4 to 18 months of age.
THE P-POD PROCESS
Use putty to fill in the flattened areas on the baby's head
Attach the foam pouch to the bladder inside the helmet and fill with foam
Place P-POD helmet on baby, securing straps
After the foam sets, trim the foam to finish the P-POD
Mix the foaming solution in its packet
