Pediatricians

Pediatricians can now treat plagiocephaly without the need to refer their patients to an outside clinic.

Pediatricians are often the first health care provider to address a flat spot on the back of an infant’s head. Whether it gets noticed during a regular office visit or the infant's parents express concern, regular check ups are often the start of the conversation. Traditionally Pediatricians suggest conservative treatment of repositioning and tummy time for 1-2 months. If that effort is unsuccessful in correcting the flat spot, a cranial re-molding helmet may be necessary.

In order to get started with helmet therapy, Pediatricians typically refer their patients to an orthotics clinic. This means families have to wait for an appointment for scans and then wait for the helmet to be fabricated in order to start treatment.
